You al may have known this but Baltes is French for Baltic
Catherine Baltes Braun is my GGgrandmother and her daughter Catherine married Francis Hannigan -- Gerald's mother and father.
Itappears the Baltes' may have been Protestant.
They were from Trier in Rhineland Palatinate but may have migrated southwest from The northern coast in the late Middle Ages or earlier who knows. There are Baltes records in Trier back to 1660.
They went to Milwaukee and one of Catherine’s uncles had a furniture store Oldenburg & Baltes.
